Aflatoun International reaches four million children and young people with Social and Financial Education worldwide. From Indonesia to Ecuador, we ensure high-quality study materials and trained teachers to deliver our innovative method, empowering pupils to make a positive change for a more equitable world. Our active learning programmes are adapted to local needs and occasionally tackle specific issues, like girls’ vulnerability in Tajikistan, peacebuilding in Syria and youth employability in Ghana.

Since its inception in 2005, Aflatoun International has been very successful in providing children and young people with the tools to build a sustainable future. By becoming socially and economically empowered they are inspired to discover their talents and stand up for their rights. With the support of a strong partner network of 192 NGOs and 28 governments Aflatoun International’s Social and Financial education is implemented in 116 countries. Our goal is to reach 20 million children and young people by 2020.

 

In order to support us in our mission we are now looking for a COMMUNICATIONS INTERN: ONLINE MEDIA. 

  

Tasks

The Online Media Intern will mainly be responsible for assisting our Communications team through key social media networks: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram. The intern will assist with planning and executing the strategy with the goal of building community awareness and engagement around Aflatoun International’s brand, mission, and services.

 

The following tasks will be part of the internship:

  • Build community interest and momentum through Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram by posting updates, engaging conversations and discussions, and increasing the number of followers; 
  • Monitor, track and share insights into community audiences and online conversations; 
  • Participate in building compelling social media campaigns to actively engage targeted communities; 
  • Collect and draft content for online communications including newsletters and blog posts; 
  • Research the social media landscape for successful approaches to social media; 
  • Explore new online and social media tools and implement best practices.

 

Requirements

  • Excellent writing and editing skills in English. Knowledge of any other languages is desired;
  • Strong familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram)
  • Ability to work effectively in an international team;
  • Hands-on and able to work independently;
  • Good understanding of the effective use of websites and social media;
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office programmes;
  • Graphic design skills a plus;
  • Studying in Europe or having work permit.
